Frequently Asked Questions

Can HydroFix be applied to damp surfaces?

Yes, HydroFix is specifically designed to be applied to damp surfaces. A matt-damp surface actually improves adhesion performance. However, on surfaces with active water flow, a water-stopping treatment must be carried out first.

How many coats are required?

At least 2 coats are applied. Each coat is 2 – 2.5 mm thick and the total should be 3 – 4 mm (3 mm recommended). The waiting time between coats is 6 – 8 hours.

Can it be painted over?

Yes, but the choice of paint is not free. Once the render is visibly dry (at least 3 days), use only breathable (water-vapour-permeable) silicate or silicone emulsion paints. Plastic/acrylic-based paint must not be applied over HydroFix — it blocks vapour transfer, moisture builds up behind the plaster, salt crystallises and the layer blisters within a few months.
